How Different Would One Punch Man Be If the Monster Association Had a Stronger Boss?

The Monster Association’s might ranks among the strongest threats yet.

Now that more footage of the Monster Association (MA) arc has surfaced, it seems like a good time to evaluate their strength.

This ranking is based on what has been revealed in the manga so far, and it will be interesting to see how others perceive these power levels.

Tier 1

Psykos/Orochi: While theoretically the most powerful, this fusion ended up being underwhelming compared to the hype surrounding it. The expectation was that it would surpass base Orochi by a wide margin, given that Orochi alone was considered far stronger than any of the cadres.

Despite this, it still fell short against Tatsumaki, with the only damage inflicted occurring because she was holding back to avoid harming other heroes.

The way this fight played out was somewhat disappointing, especially considering the buildup and the fact that this battle wasn’t against Saitama, who typically dominates major encounters.

Tier 2

Rover: Virtually indestructible, with an incredibly overpowered laser attack.

Phoenix Man (Third Resurrection): Surviving Child Emperor’s last-resort attack speaks volumes about his durability. With each resurrection, his strength seemed to multiply drastically. After reaching Dragon level, he was killed at least once—possibly twice—yet continued to grow more formidable.

If not for his suit’s glaring weakness, it’s hard to imagine anyone aside from Tatsumaki or Saitama being capable of handling him.

Gouketsu/Elder Centipede (EC): These two were eliminated by Saitama before their full potential could be displayed, but before their deaths, no one else managed to injure them in any meaningful way. EC took a direct assault from Bang and Bomb with little effect, while Genos remarked that Gouketsu’s strength was beyond comprehension.

He even compared the gap between Gouketsu and any other fighter to that of an ant trying to grasp the difference in power between itself and a human. Genos went as far as to speculate that Gouketsu might have been a worthy opponent for Saitama, which is a rare statement from him.

Homeless Emperor: Possesses devastating offensive capabilities and seemingly limitless stamina. If his physical strength had matched his energy projection abilities, he would have been among the most overpowered figures in the MA.

Fuhrer Ugly/Gums: These two could arguably rank higher, but their exact placement is debatable. Fuhrer Ugly demonstrated terrifying power by reducing Tanktop Master to a broken mess with just a few punches, effortlessly overpowering Sweet Mask, and even withstanding a psychic lock from an exhausted Tatsumaki.

While some dismiss Tanktop Master as weak, he has casually hurled buildings hundreds of meters into the air. Their potential ranking is uncertain, largely due to what happens in the webcomic (avoiding spoilers here).

Tier 3

Gale Wind/Nyan and Others: While undeniably strong, they don’t seem to measure up to the upper-echelon cadres. Their abilities make them formidable, but their impact in battle hasn’t been as impressive as those ranked higher.

Black Sperm (BS) and Evil Natural Water (ENW): Their full strength remains unclear, which is why they have been left out of the rankings for now. Until more of their abilities and limits are revealed, it’s difficult to place them accurately.
