Could Saitama Annihilate an Entire Planet with a Single Punch?

Saitama’s strength transcends science, making calculations pointless.

In the vast world of One-Punch Man, the Monster Association arc presents a fierce battle where humanity’s strongest heroes face overwhelming odds. As they push forward against their monstrous adversaries, the likes of Psykos and Orochi are eventually taken down.

However, the true challenge emerges when the Monster Association Executives showcase power far beyond expectations. One such formidable foe, Evil Natural Water, is a mindless entity formed from Psykos’ experiments, consisting entirely of liquid with the ability to absorb surrounding fluids.

After suffering defeat at the hands of Garou, the creature drifts into the ocean, growing to an enormous scale—so massive that it towers over an aircraft carrier.

Yet, despite its daunting transformation, Saitama dispatches it effortlessly with a single punch before shifting his attention to saving the carrier, offering a glance into his sheer power.

Uncovering another layer of his incredible abilities, Saitama contemplates the best way to prevent the capsizing of the massive ship in Chapter #157. He muses that, if provided with solid ground, he could simply lift the entire carrier and relocate it.

Though his actual solution—riding it like a surfboard—is far more absurd, this brief reflection establishes a baseline for his strength.

Given that modern U.S. Navy aircraft carriers, including the Nimitz and Ford classes, weigh around 100,000 tons, it’s reasonable to infer that Saitama can lift at least that amount with ease. Using the standard force equation (mass × gravity), the energy required for such a feat would be approximately 882 million joules.

Handling difficulties of power scaling, it’s important to note that lifting strength doesn’t directly translate into punching force. Many additional variables—such as acceleration, friction, and impact dynamics—come into play.

Even if one inaccurately equates the two at a 1:1 ratio, Saitama’s raw punching power would register around two Megatons of TNT.

To put this into perspective, modern nuclear weapons in the U.S. range between 0.3 Kiloton and 1.3 Megatons. Essentially, the force behind Saitama’s punches rivals the destructive capability of multiple nuclear warheads.

Saitama’s Power Can Even Destroy Planets

Compared to his earlier demonstrations of strength, Saitama’s battle with Garou in Chapter #167 escalates to a cosmic scale, unfurling in the vast reaches of outer space.

The fight leads them near Jupiter, where an unexpected yet terrifying event occurs—Saitama sneezes, inadvertently obliterating a massive portion of the gas giant, exposing its core.

As if that weren’t enough, his “Serious Table Flip” before this moment completely rips apart the crust of Jupiter’s moon Io, reducing the celestial body to debris.

These feats solidify him as a force capable of reshaping planets, elevating him beyond Earth-bound threats into a cosmic-tier powerhouse. Such unfathomable strength raises an alarming question—what if Saitama were to unleash this level of destruction on Earth, even by accident?

Encapsulating the sheer magnitude of his sneeze, the energy required to strip the atmosphere from a planet is almost beyond calculation. Yet, Saitama accomplishes this casually, without intent.

While applying real-world physics to fictional universes can be an amusing exercise, the calculations remain speculative, as characters like Saitama defy conventional scientific principles.

Among the many absurdities that define One-Punch Man, one thing remains certain—Saitama’s limitless strength exists in a league of its own.
